Engine Scanning Tooling

Can anyone recommend a good engine scan tool for a 1989 GTA. I want to invest in one. Do you need a computer with this tool? I do not have a home computer. I use the one in my city's library to access this site. I plan to buy a computer in the next year or two. Thanks in advance.

Everyone will tell you their own prefrence. For me it's currently the Auto X-Ray. It's a stand alone hand held unit, but you can but s/w to connect it to your OC and down load the information from it to your computer.

The Auto Xray scanner is $175.99 at www.summitracing.com I just got through ordering one for my 1989 GTA. By the way the Summit part number is AXY-10110. Allen
