Is this bad?

hey all

i found an opening at the top near the rear passenger side valve cover that was simply open.

Its a round hole, Looks like a tube goes in it. After closer inspection i found a tube that goes from the TB on the same side and is just left open (looks broken) im guessing its whats supposed to plug into the cover.

My question is. By leaving this open am i harming the engine? should i fix this? according to anything i can find it just says "air in" with no more information....

thanks.

It should be fixed for optimal performance and emissions. It would only be a few bucks.

It is the breather valve opening and should be fixed. By leaving it open, all kinds of unwanted items could get into your engine. Not to mention all kinds of critters that like to build their homes in openings like that.
