THINKING of Vortech heads
Hey guys; I know this mechanic in a small town by the base that has a friend who works in GM. Supposedly, there was some kind of problem with Vortec engines a while back, and they recalled them. Had something to do with the spider in the lifter valley, I was told. Anyway, turns out they also replaced the heads as well, even though there was nothing wrong with em. This guy has a set of vortec heads with under 15,000 miles on em for $150/set. I got a 1985 305 TPI, and i know people put these things on those motors. I know about the center bolts on the intake' he said he can machine that for it to work with these heads. The heads are fully assembled, 1.6 rockers and all.
i was wondering if I should get these for my car. I always heard that 350 heads are bad for a 305 because of the big combustion chamber vs. the small bore. However, if they will give me more power and won't harm the motor, I might get them and put em on when I do my headers.
I'm just looking for some opinions, guys; thanks a bunch!

I would say keep shopping. Find a good set of LB9 heads. You can find them pretty cheap, and they will match your application better. 58cc, 1.84 intake, 1.50 exhaust, and you won't have to hack up your intake to make it work.
