TPI problems in Denmark !
Hi guys. Great site (i`m new here)
We are two guys, with the same problem, overhere...
A 305 tpi, and a 350 tpi iroc - slow starting.
Leave the cars for 2 days, and they start instandly. With hot engine, and leaft for under 15 minutes, no problems !
BUT betwin 15 min. and 2 days, the starter must run at least 5 sec. before starting.
Evaporatoin system is checked. Fuelpress as well.
Theroies about leaking injectors, or oil passing throu valves are up !
Can anybody give any anwsers ??? Someone must have these problems too !!!
In Denmark Camaroes are wery few, so what do we know ???

You may have alot of carbon build up on the pistons. This can cause a delay in starting as the carbon absorbes the vaporized gas. once the carbon is saturated the car will start. This commonly occurs with unleaded and leaded gas. The cure is decarbonize the pistons with a good top engine cleaner.
Hope this info helps let us know.

RoadRebel,
Welcome Aboard!
Regardless of its "foreign" heritage, EFI is EFI. Actually, many earlier TPI engines used a lot of Bosch EFI components, like the MAF, injectors, fuel pumps, etc., so it might not be so "foreign" after all.
Given that, fuel pressure at startup is critical. Additionally, fuel leakage from either the injectors or fuel pressure regulator after shutdown can easily (and commonly) cause the type of problem you are describing. Can you reply with a fuel pressure reading? It would also be helpful to monitor fuel pressure after shutting the engine off, primarily to make sure there is still pressure after at least 15 minutes. Fuel pressure leaking down faster than that can indicate an internal injector leak and/or regulator leak.
You might want to ask your acquaintance suffering the similar problem for similar readings.
