next mod?
ok once i have my headers installed, what should my next mod be that will give me the greatest improvement in the quartermile?
so far i have ceramic headers, AFPR, gutted air box with k&n filters. new synthetic oil, tranny oil/filter. and a b&m shift kit.
i was thinking either superram or a 2400-3000 stall.

my budget is anything short of a power adder, i wanna work on the engine NA first.
if the intake is my next biggest bottleneck, then ill upgrade to superram, if its the stall, ill get the 2400stall torque converter.. etc..
a search wont help me

Gears and convertor. Roller rockers wont help much, unless they are 1.6's. Cam would be easy also. All are fairly chaep ane rewarding when done.

If its an '89 IROC, shouldn't he already have roller rockers stock?
I say get a cat-back and a high-flow cat. That's a big bottleneck eliminated. Then move onto the intake. Gears and a nice stall between the range you set would work very well also.

A converter alone got my friend Bo 6 tenths alone on his 93 LT1 and with E.T. Streets he got another 2 tenths (as compared to nitto DR's i believe). He has a 3500 stall with a 2.7 STR though. A bit much for the street, but a converter would do you real good.

I go for the Vigilante torque converter, or one of the less expensive converters if you don't mind taking a chance on ruining the transmission. Whatever, buy a good quality converter unless you know someone who build transmissions cheap.
Then some drag radials. Next you'll probably need to upgrade the rearend because the 7.5 gears will go. It never really ends.
Have fun, fix what breaks with better parts, then fix 'em again when those break.
Oh, keep a spare car.

thanks
i was thinking torque converter, and yes if i get rocker arms, i wouldnt get any less then aluminum 1.6's
i want to stay away from drag radials for now. with these 2.77's i dont need them.
and finding any gears for a aussie 9 bolt will be hard, but from what it looks, a converter is my next big step.
DuronClocker, i dont need cat-back, i got cutout valve

Wow interesting my mistake. Now I feel stupid... lol. I'm also the same one that figured LT1 heads would be easy to install, and now that they're here, the coolant connections to the rad seem impossible.
Good call on the cut-out as well
