Mechanical fuel pump with stock roller cam L98?

A friend and I are thinking about installing a spare L98 of mine into a carbureted pickup truck of his. The block obviously has provisions for a mechanical fuel pump but is there a fuel pump lobe on the stock roller cam? Your answer could save me a gasket. Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, there is no fuel pump lobe on the cam. Also, as far as I know, there isn't a mechanical fuel pump that can supply the pressure needed for the TPI to function. You need like 50 PSI or something of pressure; that carb probably only had like 5 or 10 psi. You need to install an electric in-tank pump. Or, maybe someone makes an electric in-line pump? But, either way, just leave the blockoff plate alone.

I forgot to mention that we'd be running a carb on this engine. I'm keeping the EFI for another project.

oh ok..well, in that case you'd hafta change the cam and get the rod that drives the fuel pump. the cam would hafta have the extra lobe to drive the pump.

I have an original L-98 roller cam in my basement right now. Out of 1987 vintage motor. It's got the fuel pump eccentric.

The 1989 L05 roller motor I got as a core back in 2000 had a factory cam with the fuel pump eccentric.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like it's 3 to 1. I'll pull the plate tonight and see what's there.
