What clamps are you talking about? There are clips that go on the top end (fuel rail end) of the injectors which you should have from the original injectors.

Also, do you know that a bit of lubricant is required on both orings on each injector before you attempt to install the injectors. The injectors should be installed into the fuel rail first. I'm assuming you are talking about a TPI setup.

And furthermore, why are you installing 24#/hr injectors in a 305?

clips

the clips were used in the assembly line to hold the injectors in place. you really dont need them, because, as you tighten down the fuel rail, they are not going anywhere anyway. i agree with doc, use petroleum jelly, or plain oil on the o-rings to prevent them from tearing. i also think the 24s are too large, even for a modified 305. i used my stock 19s from a 305 to a modified 357, and, i could still make the car run rich, with 51 psi of fuel. an adjustable regulator is a great tuning aid when using smaller injectors. ...tom

yeah I know but I got them cheaper than I could have 19s for new and I had two failed injectors, I also have a holley afpr so I can adjust it to just as much or as little as I need it.

Naw, ya can't...to much variation to adjust with your AFPR, you'll have to get into the PROM and change the injector constant....maybe if you had a 350 you could get by...maybe...but not with tthe 305

I'm going to be putting 24# LT1 injectors into my 305 soon enough. But I can burn chips for my car for the 24# injector constant (you WILL need this...24/19= 26%. 43.5psi - 26% = 32.2psi). You'll need to drop fuel pressure to 32.2psi in order for the 24# injectors to run as 19# injectors, but at that PSI I'm sure they aren't atomizing fuel very efficiently.

Oh yeah, and my 305 won't be stock. I'm wanting to give my buddy's '99 SS a run for its money with this setup..

i also am going to put 24# lt1 injectors on my 91 z28 5.7L. but the impedience on stock injectors read around 16.5ohms and the lt1 injectors read 12.5ohms, would that make them work differently, i think that if they read lower impedience that it would run more rich than nessisary, am i right on this? someone correct me if im wrong

injectors

that has nothing to do with how rich they will be. high impedance injectors will work with the drivers in a stock ECM. and yes the LT1 injectors fall into this catagory. low impeadance injectors, and to be honest , i havent seen many in quite a while, fall into the 2-6 ohm range, require an aftermarket ECM, or DFI. a while back if you wanted to go big on injectors, you had to go with the low impedance units, but now they are available in high impedance, 14-16 ohm, that will flow higher lbs. per hr.

I know it will work with the stock ecm, but when our cars are set up with a pulse with 16.5 Ohms or so, and you put injectors in with 12.5 Ohms, wouldnt it have a different effect on how much fuel it gives, therefore you would have to get a prom burned?

you can probably tune your A/F with the regulator with those injectors. a few people i know have done this without the need of prom work....tom

Sorry for bringing this back up but i was wondering how it went after using the Lt1 injectors on a 305? Was ECM/PROM tuning necessary after all?

i put the lt1 injectors in my 350, and i think that the fuel system and components are working fine, but i have other problems that i cant figure out, but i dont think the fuel system is the problem. i would imagine 24# injectors on a 305 are too much anyway though.
