I also like how you will not have to modify any fuel lines. It using the stock fuel rails is a plus for me. As soon as I buy this intake (if it works out well), it's heads and cam time.

List price is $700. So it should be readily available somewhere from $600 to $700.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

they should do a dyno test with a healthy lb9 (305 tpi) if they could gain 50hp and 50tq on that motor, i think lots would buy it. now they need to make a great set of equal length shorties too.. more than half the tpi motors out there are 305's.. food for thought bryan.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

i like the dyno graph claims.. yeah it makes 50hp difference at 5000 rpms, but its only a near 10hp peak difference. And that stocker dyno'd only 200 hp at like a really low 3900 rpms. Should be closer to 4400-4500 and 210 whp for a good condition stocker L98. I assume they used a 350 based on the numbers

BUT it did show good breathing out to 4700 rpms on a stock 88 L98. thats not too bad. Shows good potential

What surprises me is that the stock TPI made more torque below 3500 rpms and a pretty good difference to boot. I didnt expect such a big difference.

That very well may have been the dyno from a 305. They don't actually mention L98 anywhere. All they say is "88 IROC".

You might want to Google "Holley Bankruptcy".......

The dyno tests were performed on a 350 that was beat down pretty hard.

I figure, if I got 50 H.P. out of an intake on that POS, then there must be a good potential for a better intake on those cars...

I'm not sure on the nicknames yet. I came up with "SSI-R" for the 5.0L race intake, (shown in this thread) but this one.... I was thinking "BBK TPI" would suffice. It's pretty straight-forward

UTPI
Ultimate Tuned Port Injection

Since you would probably know better than the marketing department, is this acctually going to be available in 5 or 6 months?

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

Say Brian! Is there anyway to give us the flow numbers of the manifold an or the tubes internal diameter size?

What happen to $399.00 price as avertised? How about meeting it half way?

Since you guys make headers, how about making some for 3rd gen f-bodies(1 3/4in shorty headers)? You will be the only market out there and they are needed badly. Someone on this board has the perfect overall jig if the price is right.

$399.99 was a very rough estimate that was drawn up at the time of the original idea. I'm sorry, but I didn't post that price.

Boss says the 3 castings wil cost a little more than that just to get them here before machining.

As with all of BBK products, the price will be very competitive with other the options that are available on the market.

If we were going to do F-body shorties, we would do our own jig....Should we stop working on the TPI intake stuff and get working on some shorties right away?

Yeah, and maybe some performance cupholders

Glad to see there's a date, and the price doesn't sting THAT much.

Definately not! I had begun to write off this intake, but now my hopes are alive & well once again. If it's available around October of this year - that will be perfect for me. I can sell off the stuff I've bought in the meantime and set it aside for the BBK unit. It will save me a lot of work/time/money.

Does show a potential. a L98 making barely 200hp at the wheels at 3900 rpms stock is pretty beat, and yet you still made some power. That shows good potential in my book. Stock TPi is NOT adequate for 305's let alone a 350+ inch motor

NO...BBK shouldn't be diverting any resources away from finishing this intake!

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

Better gains will be had when used on built, or forced induction engines.
I remember reading somewhere on this thread concerns that the lid on the intake might not stand up well to significant positive pressure.

Bryan, what do you suspect / believe / have tested the boost limit of the intake to be?

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

I finally had some time to look through my mail yesterday and saw there is a blurb about this intake on page 22 of the June issue of Super Chevy. Unfortunately they didn't even use a thumbnail. I am guessing it is because it is more late reporting on the industry show, and the person submitting it likely didn't want to use the photo he took knowing that it was still a project under development at the time of the show. If it was a BBK press release, I am surprised they didn't give the pic in the pack.

We will have to wait and see on the strut tower brace issue. I know of at least one that is thinner in the area going over the plenum.

Re: BBK TPI intake setup ($399.00)

I think the look of it is quite decent. Reminds me of the 3100/3400 intake on the FWD cars.

After reading a thread on all the differences between the years of TPI. It would be very interesting to see how it covers all years. EGR, CSI, TB's, MAP. Plus different heads and vortecs that this setup is often put on.

It clears a corvette hood, so it should be low enough to clear most strut tower braces.

For the guys worried about height issues... it doesnt look any taller than a stock TPI, maybe shorter? You should be fine.

I think at $699 they are sort of missing the boat. That's well into HSR territory, and the HSR probably performs a lot better up top.

Very true, it definitely has its pros versus HSR.

its got emissions, it fits a vette, and firebird owners dont have to hack their hoods to make it fit.

All it says on the web site is Winter of 08', and still no price. I'm starting to have my doubts it will be available this year.
