Check this out:

It looks like a new TPI setup from BBK. Didn't know if anyone had seen this so I thought I'd share the info.

At the very least I hope it signals a renewed interest from the aftermarket companies on our thirdgens.
We need more stuff!
Cheap stuff is even better.

Anything to make breathing easier is a good thing!
Cheaper (less expensive) makes it a great thing.

Thats awesome news, I can't wait to see this new design!

sounds awsome to me. we have had very minimal options for our tpi intake set-ups. most being very expensive as well. i cant wait to see it. hope it looks mean as hell and also very functional to gain hp. BBk has got my vote on this one

Very interesting as I am investigating porting the plenum and runners to my 5.0 litre TPI engine. However, I would like to see an independent review of the product before I bought this manifold. I am thinking of their bolt on 52mm and 58mm throttle bodies which make a lot of claims, which have been criticized on these discussion boards.
Heck, I'd settle for a crayon drawing at this point.

Need a crayon? heh, I'll settle for a report straight from a fellow Thirdgenner.

I'd appreciate the effort.
Maybe you can get a quick inside look at one or some info to scan and put up.
Thanks.
I HAVE NEWS
i went o BBK today right after work. i got to speak to a lady who said she was a Manager there. and she gave me some good info!! heres a run down of our convo
me: hi i saw on your website that there is a new TPI system coming out soon, could you give me more info on that?
her: yes its based on the TPI system for camaro and firebird.
me: i was wondering when it was going to be available
her: its going into production in Jan 05
me: great, is it going to be 50 state legal?
her: well right now we only have 2 fully fuctional systems ready, one is going to SEMA this weekend, and it is not 50 state legal. once production starts in Jan 05 we will be sending it out to get CARB certified, check our website for future info on it.
me: wow, ok then, how long before a 50 state legal system will be available to the public?
her: well CARB testing is usually 6-8 months so we really dont have a date yet.
me: so im curious as to what comes in the system for $399, can you tell me more about it?
her: yes it has a base manifold, fuel rails, and i believe the intake plenum and runners are 1 piece together.
me: whoa that sounds great!! will there be a price difference in a 50 state legal system?
her: i really dont know yet
me: do you know of any statistics such as power gains over stock?
her: well there was testing going on all last month but i really dont know for sure about numbers but it should be a big improvement from stock, check our website periodically as we update it.
me: well i represent members of Thirdgen.org and we are all excited about this new product since all the manufactures are catering to newer cars lately.
her: whats thirdgen.org?
me: its a car enthusiast website dedicated to 82-92 F-body cars, trans am and camaro ect. namely all the cars that use TPI
her: wow i didnt know of this, are there alot of members?
me: thousands, its international as well, canada europe, japan, we also have members in the pacific islands, so when we hear about new products its a great thing.
her: well i will have to pass this on to our staff, so they know about you, im sure it will help drive sales
me: thank you!
so thats how it went. i dont know how much of this will turn out to be true in the final product, so no one kill me if this doesnt pan out the way she says.

Thanks for stopping in and checking it out for us. It sounds like something most of us could use and probably afford to go with if it puts out good numbers (that are factual anyway)
I'm anxious to see what the setup looks like.
I hope it looks as cool as the stock setup does.

well this is just great they are making this. i cant wait ill definitly buy one. i read just last week in a mustang 5.0 magazine about the magazine testing the new bbk intake set-up for the 5.0 on an all stock 5.0 mustang. if i remember correctly with an all stock 5.0 and the bbk intake (stock tb as well) it netted around 35 hp and maybe 20 some ft lbs of torque. i do remember it definitly gained big hp in the upper rpm's but this was no a 5.0 mustang so who knows about ours yet.
Supreme Member
Imagine if the thing was compatiable with Vortec heads, I thinK I would **** on myself.
Supreme Member
one piece plenum and runners sounds like it would be similer to the mustang intake would be kind of hard to install a oem style runner and plenum thats one piece

They definately have my interest, I'll hold on the Stealth Ram I was about to buy just to see.
I don't really care too much how it looks as long as it flows well up high (at least as much as Stealth Ram). If it does, I'm sure I won't be the only one to help strip their shelves of them right away.
We'll see I guess.

We'll see I guess.yeah i asked if i could see it, she just laughed and said go to SEMA.(!&^@%# her)
it sounds to me like it would more closely resemble the GM big block fuel injection system. it uses a 1 piece for plenum and runners. you know, the one they use on ZL1 or other 502 engines. thats just my guess

This is great news!! It just shows that the interest in thirdgens is growing, and it is great to see. I imagine it will not be long before more companies come onboard and produce TPI "aftermarket" parts. I guess with the demise of the f-body people no longer look at the thirdgen as the "slower" f-body, or the "*******" car. It is getting the respect it deserves!
The only down side is this means it will be harder and harder for me to find a stock, mint, GTA for my son to drive when he turns 17. He's only 4!! And my garage is full so I have no where to put one now. It's gonna be tough!

Imagine if the think looks like a TPIS mini ram or LT1 style intake. They are both one piece intakes that from a mass production stand point would be very easy to mold.
Member
I will hold off porting the plenum and runners until I hear more about this interesting set up. Another consideration is will it accept an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I'm sure it would considering BBK makes one for our cars.

Wow, all this and only a few comments on the price of the system. Come on guys, apparently we're going to be able to get intake, fuel rails, plenum and runners for $400!! Hell, a good set of aftermarket runners run close to $300. So, this is very exciting news....lol, my pulse kept quickening when I was reading that conversation with KillJoy and the lady. I just want to see pictures/flow numers/dyno results. I would definitely be in for one if it looks as good as stock TPI, but flows as good as a stealth ram. That'd be awesome. Who's going to SEMA???! Please come back with pictures!
I hope that it flows as good as a superram cuz that is what i want and if this new system is as good as it sounds, i will most definately buy one. Superram is expensive!
400 bucks with all that sounds like a stealth ram! But possibly smog legal too!! This is great news!
I wonder if will be composite plastic one piece? That be sweet!!

Only $300 for a good set of runners? The Only runners I can think of around that price range are the Edelbrock and SLP runners. SLP's being the cheaper of the two. The best runners for TPI will set you back between $425 and $475 for a siamesed version if you can't find them used. No way I'd spend almost $500 on siamesed runners. I paid about $250 for my AS&M SS runners though.
Expensive stuff.
Expensive stuff.

With all the new intake designs BBK has recently introduced it will be interesting to see what they come up with. Have you seen what they have made for the Ford 5.0 motors....interesting.
I see a red X?

Should have asked her if it was a long tube or short tube runner setup.
I'll buy one if it is geared for a little lower RPM's then the stealth ram.

when and where is SEMA is it still in Vages
My brother is going to the SEMA show, so I will tell him to talk to the guys to get more info. Maybe he can even get some pics for us.

when is the show? I know that i cant go to it but i know when to look out for some pics. Somebody from here has to be goin AND get some pics. 100s of lives depend on it LOL :-)
The show is from 11/2/04 - 11/5/04. Maybe if you guys make up a list of questions I can give them to my brother and he can get them answered.

I would also be interested. (As long as it does not take a crap load of modification to fit).

Yeah watch this be out before I get my LT1 intake and heads intalled. I'll be kinda upset
Well maybe not since I'll have the LT1 intake and heads with all of the machinework for under $400, but its a hell of a lot of work (that doesn't include all swap parts...that's just the intake and heads and machinework).
I've been saying for a while though that my next car is an L98 Vette...so if there is yet another option out there for an L98 intake, I'll definitely be game. Hell, I'll probably buy one of these the first chance I get, even if it is going to sit in my garage for a long time.
I too thought the pic of their LS1 intake on the site was for our cars..man that would've been sweet looking. Actually, its quite possible it may look like that. Figure the base with the intake runner mating surface on a bit less of an angle (closer to the horizontal), and then the LS1-type intake bolting down onto that then. Okay, I'm drooling...
