Vacuum Lines + Random Connector
Vacuum Lines + Random Connector
I have no SES codes.
1987 Camaro IROC-Z

Hey, A vacuum line was disconnected, and to reconnect it I had to take the plenum off.. I discovered some other sightings, while I was at it. (And I think my EGR vacuum line was disconnected, too...)
Vacuum Line #1

This one OBVIOUSLY broke off of something. Normal little "L" connector. The actual line is very very skinny.

It comes out of this bunch of wires (very back, has the Yellow /brown line showing).
There's no obvious place where this could have went, at one time.
Vacuum Line #2

This one has a T connection, but I don't see any vacuum lines that could possibly connect here. Is something supposed to go here? The one line attaches here (ORANGE ARROWS)

And the other side of the T connection connects here: (fingers holding it)

Vacuum Connection..
This disconnected line connects to the rear of the plenum, next to where the Fuel pressure regulator connects.
It was connected, but the other side of the blue piece i'm holding had a tip on it (it broke off <_<) like a vacuum line would connect here. Or is nothing supposed to be connected, there?

Random Connector (Not connected)
Found behind the distributor, no visible place to connect it to
Black wire + Pink wire. It comes out of a group of wires, right behind the engine.

EGR Vacuum line?
Also, Does this correctly connect to the EGR? (YELLOW ARROWS)
It was the closest thing to the EGR that was disconnected, so I figured it had to go there.

PCV Valve question:
I started up the car, after replacing the waterpump, there was a Ticking sound, now.. . I think I figured out what it is.. If I take off the PCV valve, I can shake it, and it makes a noticable tick / rattle.. is this normal?
Thanks.

vac. line #1 goes into the dash to supply heat/a/c controls, I believe it should be connected to the rear of the plenum, maybe see if it connects to valve w/ broken tip? Where does the other side of valve go to?
vac. line #2 goes on the port on the underside left of the throttle body.
See if your vac. #1 has tip broken in it.
Random connector on mine I believe goes to the EGR solenoid, but I see that yours has a connector in it already. check to see if all your sensors have conn. on them and make sure that the wires lead to something.
Also in the Haynes repair manual it says that the port on the bottom of the TB should have a vac. hose connecting it to a diverter valve directly at the left front of plenum under throttle linkage.
As for the rattle in your PCV valve that is normal. You might make sure nothing is rubbing on any pulleys and all your plug wires are connected.

I connected vac #2, thanks for the help with that one.
These other two.. I still don't know.
This one had another tip (you can see the hole) but I broke it off by accident. It had nothing plugged in it. It's a bigger vac line that goes to the blue/grey connector.. and the other side goes to the back of the Plenum. (I removed plenum.. that's why it's not connected in that picture)

For this one though.. you say it's for the HVAC? It has a pretty small line... It has a tip (nipple people seem to be calling them) broken off (connected in the picture) but I don't know where the tip used to go. It's a black tip, same size as the tiny vac line.

As for the loose connector.. I don't see any other loose wires in the proximity. I can't see anything that it could possibly connect to. The distributor doesn't have any plugs or anything, does it? Since the connector seems to hang around that area...

I went to the search bar and put in vacuum diagrams and found quite a few good links. Did the same for electrical schematics and found most everything I needed and then some.
Good luck,
Doug
