code 12......

Im getting my check engine light and for some reason when i check the codes it only tells me 12, which is obvious, the car will run good once its up to temp and really doesnt like to stay running very well, its on the virg of stalling and then does. but when its up to temp its fine. and i have a new CTS on it so i doubt its that. but i dont even get a code, i was getting code 23 which was mat and i put a 2200omh resistor in there and the code went away. but im still getting that light. anyone have any ideas? when i check the codes when its running, i get a fast consistant flashing of the light.

Have you tried putting a diagnostic scan tool on the car to see what it is doing or are you using the shade tree mechanics specialized diagnostic scan tool that in its original form is designed to hold papers together.

lol man you know im not that high tech(paper clip), im using some old harness wire stripped at each end. lol i dont think that tool would work unless it only uses those 2 pins, since i converted it to TPI i have the wires that go there but i had 2 orange wires that im not sure are neccesary but i have them there along with a red wire to the ALDL and there just not put in the connector. so if it just uses the 2 pins a+b then that would be fine.

The scan tool depending on which model and manufacturer generally uses between 4 and six pins to get there readings. They are pins "A", "B" "C", "D" & "E", sometimes "F" & "G"
