HSR/TPI question
Since I own an 88 with the cold start injector is it possible to use a HSR or do I have to convert to SD or a newer computer and harness? I am looking into options for a 350 swap in the near future and I am leaning toward a HSR (not the entire package, just the upper/lower and fuel rails) but if it's a pain in the *** I'll just carb it and forget it.

Have you tried the message board over at www.stealthram.com?

it about the same thing..... i guess.
the code on the "prom" is changed. from csi required, to no csi required.
Examples
(MAF) Systems
88' $32B-CODE CSI Required
89' $6E-CODE CSI Eliminated
(MAP) Speed Density
90-92 $8D-CODE

Figure around $200 or so as a ballpark.
Or...just slap a carb on it and give up.

That's why I was saying to go aftermarket (or burn your own via the DIY-PROM forum) and be sure to get the settings configured for your chassis.

There is a guy on this board that does custom chips for $100-$150, EFIMIKE. Sometimes he posts ads in the classifieds section here. Here is his profile. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/mem...o&userid=14195
Another option is the prominator, read about it here https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ght=prominator
and here is the website http://misterbill.homeip.net/aboutprominator.asp
It's a great alternative to burning multiple chips.

Actually no...the 85-86 ECM is the '870 ECM while the 87-89 is the '165 ECM...different types and the Proms do not intermix. AFAIK...

Thanks for the info guys. I am really leaning towards keeping fuel injection, it's just a whole new learning experience for me. Maybe that BBK intake will be a good one too.

I have played around with the $32B mask and the $6E mask, but not the straight $32...
cubfanbudman,
I would keep the FI...get a chip burnt to use the '89 ($6E) code as it appears to be the best developed/bug free MAF code out there...and you shouldn't have to worry about swapping in a MAP setup just yet...the MAF can adapt to some basic changes pretty well.
The BBK intake could be cool, but with eight separate runners, assembly/disassembly could suck
