Start with a good exhaust system, headers, catback, everything...

Welcome to TGO.....and post a pic of the ride!!!!

.....What's your budget? If you're talking about the nickel and dime stuff, then exhaust is outta the picture. Maybe just a Carsound cat and a catback? A hooker catback and carsound cat can be had for under $400. Headers will be between about $350 and $500 plus coating, plus intallation if you're not doing it yourself.

The nickel and dime stuff would be stuff like removing screens, although I don't necessarily recommend that. Air Filters of course. You can cut the airboxes UNDER the air filters too, that'll help a bit. The adjustable fuel reg. can add a few and it's not too much...less than $100.

What are your goals, and what's your budget???

If a car has dual cats, then I would modify the intake. Correct me if Im wrong, but didnt a few 89s slip through with dual cats? These exhausts flow more than the single cats...Tom

....the dual cat was with G92 package. ...and yes it was available in 89. I thought it was an option in 88 too, but have no info to back that up.

.......what are your goals?

Get headers, a full exhaust(headers, a muffler and pipes), grind the walls behind of the plenum out(behind the TB), shift kit(TransGo!)gut the air boxs, install a good set of air filters(K&N, Kool Blue by Accel or such)and you will be running pretty good.

leave the screens alone on the MAF . It has caused idle problems for other people. Rich idles , etc . Kinda need to know how much $$$ you got to spend . It isnt cheap to do any of this stuff really . You will slowly find everything seems to add up to more than you anticipate aswell
