1987 TPI Engine Wiring Harness

http://www.darklair.com/TPI.html

"1987 is a good year for the wiring harness. It's the last year of the separate engine harness (non-integrated) and the first year for dual fans."

I copied the statement on the above TPI Website. What does he mean about 1987 having a separate engine harness, non-integrated?

Stand-alone harness means the computer harness is separate from the body harness (ie. headlights, horn, turnsignals, etc.). This setup is easier to swap into a non-EFI car, because you won't have to pick through a huge harness and pull out only the wires you need; the General did it for us.

I used an '87 LB9 motor and harness in my '88 Monte SS.

Must be a real pain to replace an engine harness in an '88-'92 Fbody. Not that '87 would be real treat either.

More trivia for the file.

Thanks.

Go Painless

I have an 87 GTA and transplanted the drive train into another body that was not rusted.

Point being, the 87-factory wire harness is a mess also. Best solution in my opinion is to buy a Painless harness or make your own.

I did not know that.
I happened to buy an 87 TPI setup for my swap and I figured they were all like that.
