Head or Intake Gasket Blown?
I have a 1988 Iroc-Z with a 305 Tuned Port. The engine runs and drives fine (no misses) but my temp gauge has now gotten to where it runs a lot warmer than it used to.
I've had to replace the Intake Manifold gasket once before because of a visible leak. Now I'm wondering if my problem is the Head Gasket or the Intake.
When I run it on the Interstate it gets hotter than driving in town. I can drive for 20 to 30 miles on the Interstate fine but usually anything more than that and it starts to run hot.
I replaced the thermostat and radiator cap and noticed that there was an unusual amount of water at the end of the tailpipe.
What would any of you think would be the most likely cause?
Thanks,
Ryan

There's no "visible" coolant loss and a minimal amount at the tailpipe after starting it. When it does run hot and when I let it cool down I have to add some coolant. I also noticed that the coolant reservoir is always about half full but the radiator doesn't pick this up.
There are no restrictions in the cooling system that I'm aware of and the coolant is clean and I can see it flowing through the radiator.
When I have the radiator cap off, and rev the engine, some water will shoot out of the radiator. Any time I have seen that on other cars it turned out to be the head gasket. But since I've had trouble with the intake gasket twice, and the last time I took the intake off I noticed that the end of it on the passenger side wasn't in the best of shape, I'm now wondering if a blown intake gasket could cause any of these same problems? The intake was a little rusted and pitted at the very back and on the passenger side.
