Well, i dunno, this is going to seem pointless to some of you.
But here it go's, bare with me.
i have access to many stock running 305s who don't?
i was just brain storming around.
Lets say i take a stock 305 block everything checks out fine. crank, rods, pistons, etc, then re-ring it put new bearings and APR the mains and rods. then i go and slap on some 96 vortec 350 heads. which should give me about 7 to 1. Then a TPI setup, on top of that a turbocharger or supercharger.
now granite its a pretty weak block but is this a doable project or do i sound like another one of those newbies that thinks 305s can crank out 600+hp. because i don't want to sound like one. but tell me what you guys think, can i do this? if not all move on.. like i said just brain storming here. i would also like to know how do you formulate PSI into compression? like 1 PSI well give you so much more compression. how do you formulate that? and how much PSI can you pump on a stock bottom end with out putting to much stress on it?
and also what about the cams i hear many things! don't run rollers something with the elapse and valve timing, i know you can still run roller. but thats what i just heard with my qustion above. what type of cam would best suite a forced inducted engine?

Your going to have to upgrade the rotating assembly for 500+ hp, it may work for a while but something is going to give. I think your horsepower goals are reachable we have a normally aspirated single 4 barrel 305 making 600 hp on reworked stock 305 heads..

I have done exactly what your talking about on 3 different 305's and every time broke a stock piston. Every time the power got around 350 the weak link ended up being a piston skirt or piston top. I am pretty sure a set of forged pistons and possibly a set of the cheapest eagle connecting rods would be an easy fix.

I am not going to be negative-
Can you give more info on this engine?
I am not going to be negative-
Is this a racing engine funded by a a lot of money?
I am not going to be negative-
That just sounds like the old "My friend's boss' brother's girlfriend's dad has___" things.
I am not going to be negative-
Please forgive my skeptisism.

Its a stocker class drag motor, rules stated stock block stock heads. Running very good and light bottom end parts, jesel belt drive, solid roller, over 10k in the heads alone, the exhaust ports were moved up 1/4" and the porting job is beyond belief. The motor was built 5 years ago and has about 6 passes on it and they cancelled the class. Its for sale for about 4500.

Its not BS its the real deal sitting on the shop floor.

We bolted set of 58 cc chamber heads and then tried a set of 64 cc heads. I believe the motors at the time were 10 1/2 to one and the smaller head was 11 to 1 comp.
