tpi heads, quick ?
Hey guys, I picked up some heads for free for my build, I posted in here a looong time ago asking for iron tpi heads, well I got em. Casting # 14102183. Didn't find any info on them, so if you guys could tell me about them that'd be great! They have been milled quite a bit, I think the chamber is 62cc now. I really want to know intake runner volume, and if these heads are worth any power, chamber looks smoggish. Thanks.

closest # I found was this on the "Mortec" site.
14102193...87-up...305/350......1.94"/1.5" valves
Might want to recheck the castings to be sure you didn't misread the numbers.

I found a 14102193 head there. 87-up style head (cennterbolt valve covers) with 1.94/1.50 valves. That's all they listed as info. If I had to take a wild guess I'd say it's got 64cc chambers (at least originally) and the intake ports are probably around 170cc- pretty common intake port size for a typical 350 head of the era. Agreed, probably not a lot that's really special about these heads.

Thanks, I'll recheck the numbers when I get them back. What's normal full port prices from machine shops around you guys' area?a perf head shop here wants $1300 for a stage 3 full port. I felt that they were kinda poking me in the eye on that.

I'm leaning towards some world products s/r torquer's, there's a guy at mission machine who wants $650 for a brand new assembled pair, so much for AFR's. my build is in TBI section, if your interested in the rest of the motor, I know, you thought I was TPI right?

Just to clarify incase no one has noticed, the casting you originally posted was 183, but the info posted has been about 193 castings. Its probably a typo, but I just wanted to point that out before you cough up any money on machining.

By the way, I would be very offended at the guy who would quote me $1300 to port those heads. If the guy had any morals and knew a bit about what he was doing, he SHOULD turn down your business and tell you to spend that money on aftermarket heads. Anyway, thats the way I see it.
