350 TPI Rebuild?
i could get a 1989 iroc z with a 350 TPI with 141k... and how much does it usually cost to get a motor like that rebuilt price wise? and on another note how far can i bore it out and how much would that tag onto the rebuild price? would it take very long if it professionially done? because i need me a new honda stomper this summer lol...

If the motor runs decent, you have a pretty okay Honda stomper already - at least, off the line. Torque rocks. Just don't rev the **** out of it trying to make more power, they tend to nose-dive on torque after 4800 or so RPM. Plenty of ideas you could try for souping it up, everything from bolt-ons to stroker/blown/juiced road pounders. I'm not sure how much a garden-variety rebuild consts, nor am I sure how far you could bore it out, that would depend on the quality of the block after it's checked. It woudl surely suck to find a crack in the block after you had plans to bore it out and stuff. How much is this going for?

I sent the motor for my GTA to Jasper last month they had it a little over 2 weeks. Mine was built stock, they will build it however you want but the warranty isn't as good. Call and tell them what you want and they will give you a price. If you do decide to go this way spend the few hundred dollars more and have the motor thats in the car now rebuilt if you exchange they send a TBI 350 back (crap heads and cam)and write down the #'s on your parts to make sure you get the same thing back. screw ups can happen we have sent 4 motors in for custom rebuild in last few months, but of course the one for my personal car came back with the wrong heads but they are fixing the problem.

As far as rebuild costs go, it depends on what you are doing. I sent my block to a machine shop to be tanked and checked for cracks. When it was given a good bill of health I sent the crank in to be polished along with the rotating assembly to be balanced. They also supplied me with new dampener and flexplate. After the balancing, decking, boring (.003"), parts and labor it costs me $850 and they had it about 3 weeks. I could have had it done cheaper but I took it to a proven engine builder so I probably paid a little more. Like I said, it all depends on what you want and how much you are willing to pay.

In all seriousness, do a few tests on the motor and you can figure out the overall condition. Compression, leakdown and coolant pressure tests will give you a rough idea. I've seen some of these things go over 300K... I've also seen a few last a whole 50K. Don't waste the money unless you have to. If you really get a bug to blow money, get some good aftermarket parts.
Power is in the heads if you want to spend decent money.

IMHO in most cases you don't need to touch the short block. I have seen plenty wild HP rides with stupid high mile stock botom ends. Do some test (compression, oil consumption etc.) If you are feeling froggy or your tests are bad, get a new short block like ZZ4 that will take a heck of allot more than a rebuild with stock replacement parts. Jaspers=Crap Not first hand but there reputation sucks.

92heritage you are intitled to your opinion, but if Jaspers were crap I wouldn't put one in my car. I'm way to **** about it
.Don't know about their performance motors if i want one of those I build it myself. If you want a stock rebuild with a killer warranty it's a decent deal. I have personally installed 20 of their motors and 15 transmissions last year, between all of us we did more than that (we work on alot of ragged out fleet vehicles )had problems with three transmissions out of all of them. Just trying to give an option take it or leave it
