Mismatched Superram Combo?

Hey, all,

I have the opportunity to get a great deal on a complete Superram (upper, lower, base and TB), but am wondering how mismatched it will be with the rest of my combo.

Rest of Combo will be:

Stock L98 Longblock, with home porting of iron heads
ZZ4 cam
Upgraded valve springs, screw in studs
S10 L35 converter
3.42 gears
Shorty headers, upgraded cat, hooker cat-back

I know the rest of my setup will be less than optimal with the Superram, but will it be better or worse than having upgraded LTR plenum, runners and base?

Would 1.6 rockers or a different cam help?

Im not sure of the specs. on your cam, but the S/R was designed to work well with the 219/219 camshaft.

The S/R would be my choice on an automatic equipped car, with a great set of flowing heads, and a 350 engine or larger.

If its a great deal, I would buy it no matter what. I own one already on my car, and if another one came by for a decent price, Id buy it.

You can always add more modifications down the road anyway...Tom

ZZ4 specs are (with 1.5 rockers):
208/221 .474/.510 112 lsa
(with 1.6 rockers)
.506/.544

According to LPE site, 219 specs are (with 1.5 rockers)
219/219 .525/.525 112 lsa
(with 1.6 rockers)
.560/.560

I might be able to use the 219 with 1.5's, but not with 1.6's.

Would it still be worth it with 1.5's?

Tom:

Thanks for the input. Right now, the price is $600 plus shipping. It is only 3 months old, and looks to be in great condition.

Dont let that one slide by! You cant even buy the plenum and runners for that price. I believe the price is now up to $779.00 in Jegs. Im sure youll be happy with it....Tom

I would jump on it!

I think it would work great with the parts you have. You could make changes later, but it still looks like a good combo.

Well, I had my SR together with a ZZ9 that is pretty close to yours and it worked great!

Maybe to much torque and to little high rpm power but you can always change cam later....but this was on a 383".....
