SLP 25# for 99.95!
how is this possible, on the SLP website they have 25# injectors for 99.95.... everywhere i've looked injectors of this size are usually over 200.00! anyway, please let me know if these injectors are defective, or anything that would stop me from ordering them right this second. thanks guys, by the way im using them on the following:
355TPI
305 heads 58cc newly machined
everything is stock, however ill get my prom tuned for these injectors. any suggestions would be cool. thanks guys

yup good deal, i might get me a set. they have been out for quite awhile. i believe those are brand new ones, or at least only a few miles on them because they went o bigger ones with the factory slp options to ls1 firebird and camaro's.
quite a few people are running them on here.

i had them.. and sold mine.. because since they do no use the locks on the fuel rail, they are also shorter in length.. and if you have them pushed in to far on the fuel rail, or intake, it disrupts the spray pattern.. i was having this problem, changed them out for some 24# LT1's and now my car works awesome.
good deal though if you get them to seat correctly.

O-ring to O-ring there is only a 1/10" difference. You can put the clips in them, use the LT-1's clips.

acutally the clips are there so the injector doesnt get pushed in too far in the fuel rail.. or the injector boss..
the problem i had was this.. i put the injectors in the rail.. then put the rail on the manifol and as you tightens the rails down, the injectors get pushed into the fuel rail since the injector bosses are tighter.. this causes mismatch.
the other problem i noticed was coupled with this, the LS1's spray pattern was affected.. check out the end of the LS1 vs the LT1 vs L98 injector.. the LS1 uses a 3 hole spray, the LT1 uses 4 and the L98 is basically 1 big hole.
if the injector is not seated well in the injector boss, the spray might be hitting part of the wall, and causing a dripping gas..
i think this was my problem since i could never get them to seat well, i have since changed to LT1 injectors that allow the use of the stock clips.. and i havent had a problem with any richness since.
oh and incase you postulate a theory on me not tuning in the chip correctly, we did.. the tuning was fine, infact we pulled more fuel out of te tables and it still ran rich..

What I did was put the injectors in the manifold first all the way down, then placed fuel rail on top then tightened it down. No clips no nothing and many perfect miles.

You guys are talking about LT1's. Where do you get them from and how much? I here a lot of guys running Ford SVO 24lb'ers from summit for $200. Do those use the stock clips?

25lb injectors for 99.95
Those injectors will NOT work on the L98/TPI. The clips won't fit, they are too short and they WILL leak. I ordered them and sent them back. Their website has been updated.

i dont know about the fitment issues, but for the deal, im sure buying an extra few clips isnt gonna be a problem, i went with SVO's because theyre the only injector i knew that could handle the PSI im pushing with nitrous.

Sent them back
I thought they were a good deal and ordered them. Found them searching for "82-92 F-Body" parts. Compared them to the original injectors I was replacing (89 Formula 350, 125k miles), and they didn't match up. Clips would not install (retaining groove on the injector did go far enough around), and they were noticeably shorter. Rechecked part number and web site, then called tech support. Was told they would NOT fit the L98/TPI and would leak. Explained how I found them on the web site, and was given an RGA (returned goods auth.). Web site was changed the next day. Part number was 23051.
bigchief,
If I were you, I would just buy them. It seems to me that most people who bought them had a good experience. If you are really worried about them leaking, grind down the 4 fuel rail supports by about 1/4 inch to make up for the shorter length. If they still leak, just send them back. I think it's worth the possible aggravation of having to send them back and more down time for your car because they are such a good deal compared to other injectors.

I have these exact injectors. I have been running them since 2003. I have had my fuel rail off at least 8 seperate times. The injectors do work and work well. They do not leak. Can they be pushed down too far or too high into the fuel rail??? I guess so, but why would you want them to leak??? Just look when installing them. It doesn't take much to center 8 injectors. Injectors can be moved up or down after they are bolted into the fuel rail with no problems.

You can cut your factory clips in half and use the half with the little ear to hold them in the fuel rail. I would also grind down the fuel rail posts on the manifold the same amount as the new injectors are shorter. Also, the ones I received from SLP were 28 lbs per hour so check your part #'s........ this was more than likely Wheel Spins problem, set injector constant to 25 and could'nt pull enough fuel out of the ve tables.

That's Hot Roddin'
Ok,
If I had followed this post prior to sending the injectors back, I MAY have kept them.
This was my first performance mod on THIS car, simple plenum porting and plenum/runner gasket change out. While in there it was the right time to change injectors, though they ohm'd out fine and were not suspect in anyway. I had the fuel rail on the bench and pulled the first old injector (doin' one at a time), went to transfer the retaining clip, wouldn't fit. Fit the new injector to the open spot without the clip, and yeah it inserted nice and tight, but seated too far into the rail in my opinion. That's when I double checked it all, and was told by tech support not to do it. No blame cast anywhere, they just weren't designed for my application.
This old Grandpa didn't get this far by being foolish, and though I will take risks and I drive my fun toy HARD, I won't deliberately set myself up for a 47psi fueled engine fire.
Again, If I had followed this thread earlier I may have kept them.
bigchief, this IS the Spirit of Hot Roddin'. Make things work your way. If you have a new chip burned and have the injectors, go for it, just be aware of the problems. You did the right thing asking Thirdgen.
OK, gone for a week, but I'll be back!
