ALDL port not working

Transmission: 700r-4, t56
ALDL port not working
well i borrowed this machine from the snap-on guy to test out my car, and when i connect it to my aldl port it says its not connected. but it is. im just trying to fiqure out whats wrong with my car cuz she fires but wont idle unless i have my foot on the gas. any ideas?

Where are you getting your power source for the scanner? Cigarette lighter socket? If so maybe the fuse is dead? Obd1 aldl is not self powered..Got the key on?
