Is this a good combination/ good idea?

I started back working on my project, and I'm not sure if this would be a good combination or not. Here's my plans:

HSR
xe268h or xe284h
World Products S/R Torquers
headers, exhaust
3000 stall converter
3.45 rear

I'm not sure which cam to get, and I also don't know if comp makes those cams to fit my block. Its a hyd. flat tappet (1991). In case your wondering, my block isn't from a thirdgen.

A 284 seems like it would be a lot of duration for a smaller bore, long stroke engine. The higher gearing and stall RPM would help, but idle and low RPM torque would be a real challenge.
