Stealth Ram Intake

Im looking into getting maybe a stealth ram intake but am wonding if it would pass emisions with it? Also should i convert it to a 383 stroker before i get the intake or get the intake first. also is there any clearance issues with it? thanks

the stealth ram is not emissions legal as it has no provision for EGR. you might have to cut out a little bit of the bracing on the bottom of your hood.

Depends on the rules in WI. If they are tough there, then you better be putting something that is compliant on; not the Stealthram. If laws are tough there look into the SuperRam, I believe it is 50 state legal.

You can get external EGR, or tune your car to pass the sniffer without EGR. And since you have a camaro, it will fit under your hood without modification.

The stealth Ram is agood choice for performance, and it will clear the stock hood. The only thing I had to do was spin the clamp that seals the intake boot to the throttle body over 180 Degrees. It has problems fitting the Vette not the Camaro. Mine made a serious difference in the top end. I bought the bare setup with Intake and fuel rails only. But keep in mind it's not just bolt on.

i wish you guys would have told me about spinning the clamp that is on the intake bellow as i didnt and by not doing it i have a nice dent in my hood i was ultra careful not to slip with the angle grinder and cut the hood and then this happend i went along with the impression that i only needed to cut the structural support of my firebird hood so anyone out there make sure to spin the clamp around. also you cannot use the tpi k&n filter that clamps onto the throttle body clearance issues again

Yeah, well I guess that I will be first in line to take responsibility for you being stupid...because after all, I am half a world away and didn't work on your car. Try actually measuring some clearances and NOT taking advice from a website as gospel for your car.

To be fair to my brethren at Thirdgen though, the topic of hood clearance for the Stealth Ram has been brought up since the beginning and that IS covered on this website, if you did a search.

If your motor is tuned correctly and Wisconsin does not do an under hood visual you can pass an emissions test. I passed the Ohio 25 mph roller test with my 406 solid roller Miniram motor.

It will take some tuning and a wideband O2 to get the fuel ratios right.

I understand where you are coming from now. I am too used to seeing kids blame people on this site for their own ignorance, inexperience and stupidity. Obviously, you are not one of them

As for the emissions requirements, unless you are running in an area without emissions or with basic requirements, you are limited in options...

at 32 yrs of age hardly a kid but i always seem to run into trouble when im doing mods never ending story once you start but really holley should have designed a manifold that fitted under a thid gen firebird also should have taken consideration for the people with 89-92 throttle bodies my throttle lever is just clearing the fuel rail fitting had to grind the fitting to clear hopefully edelbrock will get it right with there product

I agree, Holley should have designed it better...it irritated me when I installed it on my GTA too

Move out of the Milwaukee area.... We don't have any testing in Madison, lol.

Do you have any family outside of the Milwaukee area? I'm sure you could find a way to renew your plates that way, but like someone else noted, you could focus on doing the best tune that you can so that it will pass the sniffer... Do they do visual inspections over there?
