Which is more effective?
switching to a Heated O2 sensor.. but i have a question on which is a more effective place for it..
should i mount it in my Hooker 2055's on the driver side where it normally goes? or would it make a difference if i put one it in the Y pipe before the CAT?

Try to mount it as close to the collector as possible (headers) or just after the factory cast iron manifold. You want four cylinder's worth of exhaust blowing past that sensor.
Take your time if this is a new install- you get to decide where to put it so you may as well put it in where it is easy to get to!

If you don't plan on burning a chip .....keep it as close to the stock location as possible or it will mess up the A/F ratio
