How about finding out WHY your map sensor is lying? Fix it once, fix it right, and don't worry about it agian. (well, until the next time anyway, but, hopefully, that will be a while...)

I've seen big camshafts mess with the vacuum at idle, making the fuel pressure regulator add more pressure causing it to run rich. Is this what you mean by your question?

my map is reading 3.0 to 3.5 v at idle...........about 50 to 60 kpa at idle......my fuel pressure is set at minimum but the ecm is thinking i'm at wot and making the injectors stay open longer

A '92 TPI is a speed density system. Then some parts: Comp Pro Mag 1.6 rockers.Lt4 hot cam.Corvette Lt1 injectors.
It will be running quite rich at low speeds. And probably lean at high engine speeds/loads. Need to tune it, that's all. Basically the VE tables are now way off. And the injector constant needs to be changed.
RBob.
