Eldelbrock vs SLP runners
which runners should i buy?
And should i also invest in a eldelbrock base.
do both runners fit this base ok.
Im getting comp cams 08-501-8 212-218 duration, .448/.495 lift from memory. AFPR and airfoil, have exhaust cold air etc.

I would invest in the Edelbrock base. IMHO the Edelbrock runners are better than the new SLP runners out of the box. However the SLP runners are easier to modify to your hearts content. I have seen some wildly modified SLP runners on this site.

The Edlebrock base is Identical to STOCK I know I had to replace the base on my 92 GTA Bought the Edlebrock High Flow base (part#3860 I think) measured openings and they were Identical.
Oh and if you were wondering why I replaced it. Because a common problem with our cars . The front water jacket on drivers side corroded away so I couldn't keep in the water.
And if your wondering about what the SLP runners can look like with a little porting check out SLP Runners in the forum I have a few pics in there...Some really good info...Plus you can buys the SLP Runners for like 230

Great tip that works awesome for intake/coolant corrosion.
Find someone to clean the intake, ie. beadblast or sandblast to clean it thouroughly.
Then use JB Weld across the mating surfaces of the coolant jackets and use a credit card or simliar smooth ahrd object to pack, fill in and smooth the craters in the intake from the corrosion.
Before anyone laughs or makes cracks, back in the day several vehicle manufacturers actually called for this to fill slight imperfections/pits in cyl heads from coolant corrosion.
Works great unless it is obviously corroded to the point of no material being left.

Q: Are the Accel, Edelbrock and TPIS TPI intake base the same?
A: The Edelbrock and TPIS TPI intake base are both made by Edelbrock. TPIS does go one step further and port matches all the entries and exits on the manifold and the others do not.
Accell makes their own TPI intake base.
All three TPI intake bases are pretty much the same, and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference in performance between the three.
Q: What are the different runner lenghts and port diameters for the different aftermarket TPI runners and bases?
A:
Runner Type Length (in.) Port (in.)
Stock TPI 7.250 1.470 round
Lingenfelter/Accel 6.625 1.615 round
SLP cast runners 6.625 1.600 round
TPIS large tube 7.625 1.660 round
TPIS siamese large tube 7.625 1.660 round
Lingenfelter/Accel Super Ram* 4.125 1.870x1.970 "D" shape
TPIS Mini Ram 3.500 2.600x1.350 entry
1.960x1.200 exit
Stock TPI Manifold base 6.375 1.470 round entry
1.960x1.200 exit
TPIS Big Mouth base 6.125 1.750 round entry
2.090x1.280 exit
Lingenfelter/Accel 6.125 1.750 round entry
Super Ram base 2.090x1.280 exit

When I decided to upgrade to a 350 here recently, I got the edelbrock base and sidetubes and they are HUGE.... the shop the put my engine together for me had to do some machining with the base to help open it up a little more for air flow purposes (they said they could make it even better
)... it was relatively inexpensive too, only around $800 for base and sidetubes...

Big Mouth/AS&M LTR is my favorite LTR combo. Been preaching it for years. The big mouth is just a hogged out edelcrap base and the AS&M runners are, IMNSHO, the best stock replacement type LTR out there.

You did not measure the openings . They are bigger than stock . A fairly good amount too.
Here is a pic of my Edlebrock runners . They are Siamesed in 4" . I was trying to raise the RPM of the intake.
