Crazy Idea/Question!?

So I was thinking the other day all the possible reasons why I might be getting some WOT ping. My oil pressure gauge has been kinda freaky ever since I got the car, but in the last few months, it's started dropping down to zero in traffic and what not. Now I know this is not really happening. Anyway, I looked at the connector to the sending unit and noticed three wires going to it. Someone told me that one of them has something to do with the fuel pump, and in the event the motor were ever to lose oil pressure it would shut off the pump. Do any of you think that a faulty oil pressure sending unit could trick the fuel pump into shutting off intermitently, or not provide enough fp at wot? I replaced my fuel pump, filter, and gas tank months ago, and it still did it. But since changing the oil pressure sending unit the other day, the ping appears to have stopped. At least I can no longer hear it. If anyone can chime in on this, seems like a long shot, but I thought it was weird.

Don't assume its gone because you can't hear. Don't say that until you confirm it with a laptop or scantool (and even then its not 100% sure). The oil pressure sender acts as a fuel pump cutoff in the event that oil pressure drops under 4 or 5 psi.

I have a laptop, but where can I get the serial cable and software to monitor such things?
