Oil Pump Woes
Hey guys,
for the past few weeks I've been having some engine trouble ans some trans trouble I thought. Took it to the shop and they said that #2 wasn't firing consistantly and that the plugs which were Champions weren't all that great. I changed the plugs to AC Delco and it seemed to be running better, plus my MSD Super Conducter wires the #2 crimp was broken. So i fixed that. Teh car still wasn't running well, it would idle great and then once it got up to temp it would hardly shift and was awfully crappy. It wouldn't really accelerate had no powere etc. etc. So I took it down to the tranny guy who said he would take it out of the car rebiuld it and put it back in for free. He drove it for 2 hours and said he didn't think there was a thing wrong with the tranny and that when it gets warm, the engine oil pressure drops to juuusst above 8 psi. Ectremely low considering that at idle when cold its about 20-23psi. So since the oil only has a few hundred miles on it, we think its the oil pump. I've been looking on summit and such and think that I'm going to get a GM Goodwrench engine swap my cam, 492 heads and TPI assembly and get a new oil pump. I was looking at the Moroso Blueprinted racing pumps. Originaly I had the Melling high volume bolt on pickup pump, and a Street Strip Milodon Oil pan. What do you guys think?

Anyone....?
I read about similar symptomes online that had to do with a missing oil plug near the back of the block but I'm not sure yet.

Well, I found out what the problem was. The oil pump pickup fell off!!! Well, my bad i guess. Fixed that and got new heads Sprotsman II, bored it 40 over, Pro magnum rockers, and an exhaust cutout.
So pics are hear if you want, just pm me.
