anyone have a cure for this??
heres the problem..
when the car reaches 205-210*.. my fuel pump starts to make an awful winding noise.. and just gets worse till it eventually stops pumping fuel.. i was told this is called "cavitation"(the fuel pump just spins but wont pump fuel because of too much built up pressure in the fuel line)
a member on the board told me to release this pressure via the schrader valve on the fuel rail.. and then the car will be ok...its true, it worked..a big rush of air is released then gas comes out.
the thing is.. i dont want to have to keep dying in traffic and have to pull over to do this.. is there a cure for this built up heat which is causing vaporization of my fuel in the lines? is my gas tank not being properly vented? or is it a charcoal canister problem? any ideas will help.. thanks

The fuel pump in my T/A would stop working when it got hot just before it went out completely. It was not making noise though. Sounds like maybe new fuel pump time.

no... its a new LT1 fuel pump.. brand new.. only about 1000 miles on it.. it works fine until the temp is up.. its not the fuel pump thats the problem its something else that is building up too much pressure in the line to not allow it to pump..
Do you have your fuel lines routed as they were stock? Does this happen with a full gas tank or as approaching empty?
If it truly is happening purely in response to engine temp, it sounds like maybe your fuel lines are too close to the engine and are getting heated up and causing the gas to vaporize.

fuel lines are in the stock location of a TPI with no modifications.. and it will happen if the tank is full, half, or getting empty..

canister purge issue? No way to vent off pressure?
What about the fuel tank vent valve? This is used to allow fresh air to come into the tank as the level of fuel drops to offset it and not to cause a vacuum to develop.
This will kill a fuel pump nice and quick I've experienced the above and so has Vader
Search under Fuel tank vent valve for even more info and art numbers.
Its located where the feed/return lines are on the drvr rear of the car. Kinda like a grey/black breather made out of hard plastic if u look u will see it. If u did a fuel pump you prolly took it off when u did it.

if your pulling a vacuum in the tank the fuel pump won't pump right.
it doesn't take much vacuum to cause problems.
it kind of sounds like once the engine is up to temp the purge system starts working & creates a vacuum in the tank.
give this a try, next time its acting up, without turning the motor off, pull the gas cap off & see if it makes a difference.
there is a filter on the bottom of the charcoal canister that no one ever replaces because i guess no one knows about it, i have seen them completely clogged up with dirt causing the canister to act like its a sealed unit.
if the canister filter is good or replacing it doesn't help try a new gas cap.

good idea's... i'll do the filter 1st.. then the gas cap if that didnt solve it...

by the way, anyone know the part# for the canister filter? or would it be easy to ask for at a local part store?

ask for a either a charcoal canister filter or vapor canister filter, it may help to take the canister in with you.
i doubt autozone will have any ideal about what you want, but i could be wrong.
