Tranny overheating problems? Cure?

Ok, when I drive my Z at highway speeds for extended periods of time, about an hour. My tranny shift points go up to like 4k and 5k and I lose OD. First time it happened I got it rebuilt, that was in august. Now it needs it again. Question is if I by one of those deep tranny pans that adds like 2 qts and has "cooling fins" on the bottom (Do they even work?) and I add a aftermarket cooler, will this cure my problem.
Finally, where is the best place to put a temp gauge to get an accurate reading.
Sorry that I rambled, long day at work and its Fri .
Thanxs

Make sure your torque converter clutch is locking up. Cruising in O/D for extended periods with the converter unlocked will cause overheating and premature failure.

How do you make sure that the Torque converter is locked up?

Watch the tach. Depending on the calibration, at some point there will be another 'shift' that isn't a gear change. When you tap the brakes just enough to light the lights you should see the RPM's jump up and then go back down when you let off the brakes again.
