hard to start car

Transmission: stock fiero
hard to start car
I have a 1990 TPI 350. Every time I start my car it turns over a dozen times or more before it starts, but most of the time I have to play with the gas pedel to get it going. Once the car gets going, the RPMs are always erratic rising and dropping between 500-1200 RPM. As soon as I take the car out for a drive the car seems to fix itself and the RPMs return to normal.
I don't know where to start, Any Help would be appreiciated, Thanks Bobby.

mine used to do that until I replaced the IAC--do search an or may be in the tech articles about how to clean IAC as well as TPS--If I remember right Vader posted an article on the complete procedure.

my car didnt start up on the first crank until i switched out the old crappy injectors and put new ones in. now it starts perfectly fine

I had the same symptoms. A few of my injectors were leaky. I also had to play with the gas pedal for it to start quicker.
First thing I would do is check your fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacum line off it and see if there is gas in it. Then I would get a fuel pressure gage and watch your pressure when the car is turned off. Here is a graph of my fuel pressure after I shut the car off when I had leaky injectors:
