someone i know just picked up a 87 305 iroc, and its running a bit on the hot side while sitting in traffic and what not, i know its not all the out of the ordinary since my iroc does it sometimes, around 220 mark. anyways i told him he should wire up a fan switch, anyone have a good write up i could give him? something step by step would be awsome, i suck at givin instructions any help would be great

You didn't ask for alternatives, but if the fan(s) when they do come on, keep the car cool, don't worry about it. GM says 220* is normal, I'm not going to argue with them.

If the fans can't manage to keep the temps where they are supposed to be, there is something else wrong and a fan switch is just a (poor) bandaid.

No offense intended, just that "fixing" something that isn't broken invariably causes more problems at some point.
