THANK YOU!

Actually, i need the size so I can see if I can find a male/female adapter to hook upan Auto Meter oil temp gauge. I really don't want to pull the pan as suggested by Auto Meter. If I can get the right size adapter, I should be able to just go thru the oil pan drain plug hole. Sure beats raising the engine and drilling/tapping a hole for it--don't U think?

Thanks again!

It was pointed out in another thread that trying to go thru the drain plug, that stuff would be hanging down and probably be lower than anything else.....NOT GOOD.

Does anybody know of an alternative way or location without pulling the pan? Is there an oil port or passage somewhere I could tap into?

How about an inline T in the sending unit?

Seems like I remember reading a thread some time back about somebody that did this without pulling the pan, but I have done a bunch of searches and can't seem to find it.

Yeah, I was shaky on your idea of mounting the sender in the oil plug hole too. Plus I was almost sure that you would have to fabricate such an adapter.

Have you considered using a sandwich adapter for a remote oil cooler? You could mount the sender in one of the 3/8" NPT inlets. Of course you would not have a measure of true oil temperature that way. Also you would still need a tee to use the system as an oil cooler.

I know I have seen someone add an oil temperature guage this way. I just can't remember where.

Where is the other thread where you have been discussing this problem? I would be nice to have a link.

I do already have an remote oil cooler, that I have not gotten around to installing yet cause once the Houston heat starts, I pretty much go into a maintence only mode until it cools off in Oct cause I'm an old fart and can't take the heat anymore! Maybe this is a good motivater to go ahead and "GIT-R DONE". I wonder if anybody makes a T with hose bab ends with a 1/2" NPT in the middle? In thinking about it, I think either the oil presure send unit idea or the remote cooler idea is the way to go.
