350 tpi

I have a 91 Formula with the 350 TPI. now i'm wracking my brain with all these different setups and builds that i can do to reach my 380whp goal. i'd like to keep the TPI system cause its already on the motor and i'm am a little bias against carbs, not to say i wouldn't go carb, just aint a fan. Now which is the easiest/cheapest way? if i got a performance rebuild and ran stock stroke and displacment could this 350 make 380whp? i'm open to any head, cam setup.

Your going to have to either port the heck out of the stock intake or find one that will pull to higher rpm's. What about emissions and street manners? Is this a daily driver our not?

Some good flowing aluminum heads would help a lot. As far as cams you really need to have everything else sorted before you choose that, i.e. compression, heads, intake, gears, tranny an converter. This will really help you choose the best one. Are you open to power adders? Nitrous would help you reach those numbers and you could still have a reliable and streetable car.

basically i'm trying to build a high 11 second car. this cars not my daily driver its basically a project that i'll drive for fun. i'd like to stay naturally aspiratted aswell.

Like, if i raised the compression, got some good aluminum heads, upgraded the tpi system, and ran a agressive cam that properly matches my heads, would 380whp be unheard of from a this 350? or am i pretty much forced to stroke and bore?

your Torque will definately in that number range ..
you might wanna think about a MAF TPI setup.
It will tolerate cam changes, unlike its Speed Desity counter-
part.

people usually hit a wall with TPI around 300-330HP
to the wheels.

the only real option would be a diffrent Induction setup.
LT1, HSR, or Mini Ram.

that'll get ya 350+ HP depending on the combo.

I love TPI, and im gunna use it untill I hit that wall hard!

Well, 380 Rear Wheel Horsepower (provided you get enough traction, and you know how to launch), will certainly get you there. You might want to check out Tim's (Traxion's) website about his former L98 Iroc-Z28 (before, and after he installed the mini-ram). I believe he ran the stock shortblock, which eventually put him in the mid 11's (naturally aspirated).

If you need help finding supplies for a build-up.
dont sweat it .. any SB 350 has the potentional for 400+ HP

so, look for the good deals.
If you go with a used block .. take it to a machine shop
to have it checked out.

youve already decided to go fuel Injection,
but have you really thought hard about a carb setup?
whats so bad about them?
youll get the numbers your looking for in a fraction of the
time with a good carb setup.

you dont wanna choose a cam untill you decide on
the cylinder heads and the compression rating desired.
If its a daily driver, you want it to run pump gas.

you want alot a up-top power, so a good head combo is
a must for HSR or Mini-ram (or carb )
so spend some cash on some good flowing
aluminum heads.
(AFR, brodix or Trickflow)

I didnt have the cash for fancy heads,
so I got a 081 casting 305 heads and
ported them to make them decent.

other than that, I just copied other peoples buildups and
made minor changes.

like street Lethal was suggesting .. observe other buildups
to get a good idea of what u really want.
(mistakes are expensive)
