Pathetic ET's

Went to the track last night with the new motor.
383 with TF heads , 219 cam, edelbrock intake and ASM runners
Tranny is stock 700 with a S-10 converter and 3.27 gears.

First run on stock street tires and no weight loss or disconnecting anything got me a 15@104 with a 2.68 60'

Best run was a 13.58@105 with a 2.41 60'

I'm sure with tractionand slicks I could hit a 12. First gear with this combo was useless lol.

Its not a pathetic ET, but a pathetic 60ft. That 105 MPH should get you into the low 13, high 12 area. Yes, get some ET streets, or drag radials at least. I believe you can get some 1.60 60s out of it. BTW, what does an S-10 converter stall at?

for those that dont know the "s10 converter" is out of the later S10s with the vortec 4.3 (i forget the RPO for that) anyway I am pretty sure they stall at around 2200rpm

Thanks 1meanZ, I was just wondering, as I know some stock vette converters stall higher. Wasnt sure about the S-10s though.

Yup 2200 stall. It was useless as I just put it in Drive and hit the gas off idle. It caught somewhere in 3rd and that was it. NO TRACTION what so ever.

I would definatly get some stickies, and hold that converter on the line with some RPM. I think you have a 12 sec. car there. When I first tried my new auto, (converted from stick), I tried an off idle launch, with ET streets, and in no way did the car like that type of launch. I was always used to racing with the stick, so Floorguy, (who built the trans), showed me how HE launches, and bingo, I dropped a full second.

First things first, Get that puppy to hook up! BEG, BORROW, OR STEAL, some sticky tires.

I've beeten that tranny to death for the last 3 years so when it goes it goes. Still chirps 1st and it hits hard in second. Not bad for 85K on it. Only thing I had done was some sort of shift kit put into it at 58K. It was a no name brand and the tranny shop made a kit up using dollrods and something esle. I was going to have a transgo installed but he said that he would rather use these rods then bands or something like that. For 180 installed I cant beet it. I also have a deep finned pan and a 24K tranny cooler and remote filter as well.

I was scared launching with a stall because I let off, nailed it, and it spun and kicked my car over bad to the center guard rail. After that I called it a day and drove home lol

I agree with the others, get some sticky meats on the back! You'll never realize the full potential of your car if you can't hook! You have an easy 12 second setup, and I think your trap speed will go up as well if you launch good. Shoot for at least a 1.8 sixty foot or better.

I agree with bbtaz97 on the stock trans. But, as the saying goes, "you wont know until you break it". Get some real tires, and have some fun!

with a 383 and that cam with high flow TPI, i would like to think that you could do alot better than 105mph. more like 108 i would think.

super ram combos are touching 11's with that cam on 383's so i know you can do 12's as is approaching 107-108mph. work on that suspension and get more stall

Yep, Floorguys vette ran 12.00s @112 with a 383 S/R and the 219 cam, vette heads, and sprayed the car into the 10.90s!
