HELP TPS Adjustment Problems Picture Inside
All I can get from the tps is .0 voltage. Am I doing something wrong? I tried switching terminals on the volt meter and still nothing. I have the ignition on and still nothing. Any ideas guys? The car is an 87 transam with a 305 tpi. Thanks - Justin

Do you have the key in the on position? I think you do to check the TPS. And are you checking the right terminals?

Couple of things to check...probe your blue wire and verify 5v's.
Verify your grounds on the meter and the wire you added for the center terminal (assume it's ECM ground?)
Verify continuity from the ground you added to the center of the plug on the harness.

I just took a closer look at your pic...
The probe you have in the center hole on the TPS...is that coming from your meter?
If so, that's your problem....you have no difference of potential....
Run another jumper from the harness connector (center hole) to the middle one on the TPS. This (assuing you pinouts are correct) gives you 5v and ground at the TPS.
Then ground the meter and check output on the top pin of the TPS.

Like 8Mike9 said you are not completing the circuit. The sensor must have 5v and ground to complete the circuit. Run another wire for ground to the sensor.

Well I tried it the way you guys said and it worked perfect. The setting it was at before was something like .35 I have it adjusted to .546 now what are you guys usually running it at? Also I was wondering if anyone could help me out with another small problem I was having the car kind of stumbles and almost stalls when driving under a quarter throttle. It surges then when I let off of the gas it tries to catch up and almost stalls. Well I disconnected the egr valve to see if that would do anything and the car doesnt stall or stumble anymore. Could this be a bad egr valve or could it be a bad sensor that is kicking the egr valve in to early? Thanks - Justin
