Hey guys....yeah my GTA boggs down when i turn really sharp....idk what the problem is. Also, when i turn the car off there is a humming noise coming from the back of the car....fuel pump maybe???. Umm one more thing, at low rpm's it's been missing lately, but like...if i keep the rpm's up, it does fine. IS ALL THIS CONNECTED???? ok well if anyone can help me, i'd appreciate it...thanks

My GTA likes to die or bog down when I turn right with a low tank of gas. No humming however...

I had the same problem. I replaced the gas tank vent valve which is where the humming was coming from. I haven't had any problems since then. When that valve stops venting the gas tank the pressure in the tank increases to the point where your fuel pump cuts out. It happens mainly on hot days.Originally posted by rockinfirebird

On mine it means its time to get gas, agin!! Gas tank pressure? Do you mean vacume? never had pressure, only vacume when this happens. Just opening the fill cap, on hot day would test your vent. I never ever want pressure in my tank.

My IROC will sputter during sharp turns with low fuel levels and the humming can be normal fuel pump activity - mine does it as well. If the stalling/sputtering happens without a low fuel level, then there may be a different problem.

mine did it around turns on a low tank. put a new feul pump in no more problem. i can now drive with an extra gallon and a half before fueling.

So is this happening because the fuel sending unit is a little to short and not catching enough fuel, i'm guessing only fix is a fuel sending unit? When i have 3 gallons or more in my car it runs prefect but anything under I feel eirther a total preformance loss or a little hesitation(only on WOT)..
Funny thing is I raced my friends 2001 convertibale cobra like like a year ago and it happend i wanted less gas for ligher weight. i still worked him old school. that was when my 88 vette was stock and only mod was a 180 thermostat.

NO ITS HAPPENING BECAUSE THE PUMP IS BAD. FACTORY PUT THE SENDING UNIT WHERE IT SHOULD BE. THE PUMP DOESN'T TURN ENOUGH TO COMPENSATE ENOUGH FUEL PICKUP WHEN IT SPLASHES AROUND AND GETS AIR POCKETS. NEW PUMP WILL FIX THE PROBLEM.

oh damn that sucks, so i need a new pump soon. Should i just buy a pump or the entire unit? Also anyone recommand a certian brand. i'm putting a stroker motor in it sooner rather then later, what would be a good PSI and what brand too?
thanks
thanks

I don't know about a vette probably the same but 85-92 f-bodies have in tank pumps. Anyone correct me if im wrong, but no sending units just drop the tank, take of the top lock thing, and replace the pump, put it all back in

mine stoped with a new pump, and can now suck the tank dry.
Go drain the tank, put a gallon in, and take a corner at .9g and tell me it doesnt bog.
The strainer is located in the center of the tank, if the fuel moves to the side (and it will) there is no fuel for the engine. The baffled tanks are only minimally better.

I've always liked the Walbro pumps. As far as what psi, just get an AFPR and experiment. I'd start at 50 psi if you're using stock 350 injectors.Originally posted by 8UpAFord
