i didnt read the entire post but im putting my money the gtech is off mainly. there may be more problems as well but my 91 z28 305 tpi with no mods but headers ran a 9.17 @ 81 in the 1/8th. i dont know what that is in the 1/4th but im guessing mid 14's. the motor has 170,000 miles on it too.

also, how much are you spinning tires? i still havnt got down how to launch my car and my track times can go from a 10.2 to my best of 9.1...pretty sad.

At the strip my 88 tpi 350 formula ran a 14.7 1/4 9.59 1/8

I put $1500 in it and i ran the 1/8 and got 9.36

My tranny messed up so i didn't have thrid gear, or else i would post my 1/4 times but they were horrible.

make sure you aren't making up numbers... converting 1/8s to 1/4s is not realistic.

My car is completely stock and it went 12.5. I don't remember if it was 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile, but I know that my car is very fast.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet, but that time is slow for a 350 car, which begs the question are you sure its a 350 car and not one that was sold as a 350 car. Lots of folks like to pull badge tricks, run the VIN, I think this site even has a VIN checker or it used to. My 1987 305 TPI auto car (the worst year for TPI cars) ran a 15.3 stock at 91, then I did some mods got some better tires and was consistantly clicking off low 15s at 93mph.

i beg to differ but my vote for the worst tpi year would be 86'. It got the crappy cam,and its not a roller! Not tpi exclusive but it also got the crappy 3rd brake light too.

fair point but both 86 and 87 were rated at 190hp if my memory serves me correct. Either way they were both major pigs

my old 87 350 IROC ran a 16.43 @ 80 something the first time I took it to a track. had around 145K on it at the time.
3.27 gears, SLP 2200 stall convertor, B&M shift kit, Flowmaster exhaust.

last time I took it to the track before I sold it: 14.2 @ 95 and 215K miles on it.
Pretty much the same set up, but I did all the little crap that had been neglected by previous owners, good tune up, switched to Mobil1, gutted airbox (still used paper filters), airfoil ( got it for next to nothing lol ), TB coolant by pass, replaced, water pump, radiator, hoses, and reconnected the oil cooler.
