Base timing on 88 305 TPI?
My car seems as if it's not running as good as it should be. What is the base timing for an 88 305 TPI and how far does the computer advance the timing when the spout connector is plugged in? I know the base timing is suposed to be 6 degrees before top dead center on the speed density motors but I'm not sure about the mass air. I have mine set to 6 degrees and when i plug in the spout connector it advances 25 degrees before top dead center at idle. This doesn't seem right to me so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

Sounds about right. My 91 305 TPI was supposed to be 6* BTDC with the ESC connector unplugged. Don't remember the spark advance with it plugged in at idle, but low to mid 20's sounds about right.

Thanks. I found a crack in my y-pipe and it's leaking at the exhaust manifold. I think it's time for headers. This lack of backpressure might explain my lack of low end power.
