Running ZZ4 cam?

Im wondering if anyone is running a ZZ4 cam on a basically stock setup and how the feel about it. Im also wondering if it has good street manners, because i spend more time in the city and on the highway than on the track. Mods are in the sig, but nothing major other than the HSR and exhuast and other than that im not planning on anything else.

There's an enormous amount of tech info on this subject if needed, but just for discussion...

....I don't think there's a better cam for a stock L98. The only mods I have to the motor are the cam/valvesprings, headers/exhaust and the MSD. It cams a little, but certainly nothing too obvious. Joe guy won't notice. Manners are just as good as stock. The car actually runs better than before, and I still have a stock tune. Although a tune would find some power, it's not really needed. With NO emmisions crap on my car, the car still passes the sniffer.

...the only complaint I have is that for my purposes, I woulda gone bigger, but for a daily driver I'd say it's perfect!

....forgot to mention that 3.492rs is right. The HSR needs more cam. You need to decide what's more important, manners or power.

....but you should still be able to find a very streetable cam that's a little bigger than the ZZ4.

Beautiful for stock. Maybe Hotcam for HSR?

Ab, what numbers did you get on the sniffer test. It's coming up for me soon.

i'm running an LT4 hotcam in a basically stock (L98) set-up w/1.6's... 3-angle valve job with it, headers and cat-back and emmissions still intact. one day when i get this electrical crap fixed, i can put it on the dyno and post some results. for now, i just have to wonder. it seemed to run pretty good for the whole 300 miles i got to put on it, without a break-in...

Are you running a long tube intake with that hotcam? The hotcam is designed to rev a little more the longtubes will support. That doesn't mean it won't make power, and it doesn't mean it won't run well, but you could be making better use of the power band with another cam.

2new2funny: I sent a PM. Sorry, no numbers.

Not the first time I heard of similar numbers. It's a wonder how all of a sudden, you've got some top end!
