MAF Confusion
OK, I hope I didn't render an incorrect opinion when I told one fella to get the Wells SU-145 MAF sensor. I've read about legal trouble and whatnot, but I ordered one and got what I thought was the thick film SU-145 MAF. Hmmmm. What I took out of the box (marked "Wells SU 145") was the Bosch unit I already have in my car. Did I completely misread the 50 or so posts that said the Wells unit was the thick film MAF? Or is the Bosch the thick film? I'm confused and sorta P.O.'d about this. I read where the Micro Tech MAF from Adv Auto is the thick film MAF. What am I missing???

I see I stumped a few other people too. But I did figure all this out. So for those about rock..no for those about to get a new MAF, the Micro Tech MAF IS the "thick film" unit I have been looking for. The Wells unit is nothing more than a Bosch unit (flimsy burn off wire). I still wonder if the Wells unit USED TO be the thick film unit. Anywho, I'll be putting the new MT unit in next week and if it thorws my ECMa curve ball, I'll let you all know.

EDIT 11/22- After 7 days of trying, I've set up a reutrn of the Wells unit. It DID used to be the TF kind but they stopped making it 3 years ago, sez the WDAutoparts guy. I'm guessing this is b/c of the lawsuit everyone seems to be talking about. They are sending out Bosch units now and "usually they try and tell the customer that" but I happened to order from a guy who wasn't in the practice of letting folks know that. So...if you need a Bosch unit for $160, WDautoparts.com is one place you can get it from. Funny thing, the fella said he knows people with our cars use the TF kind a lot and that Wells made a mistake in not making them anymore. Overall WDA has nice people, just kinda slow.

The Wells unit is a thick film MAF, how you got a wire Bosch MAF in a Wells box is unknown. I would contact the place that you got it from and accuse them of fraud!!!!!!!

I'm simply gonna return the Wells unit and I'll probably not deal with WDAutoParts.com anymore. They are nice folks but I really don't need the PITA mexican parts dance.
