Storage of my 87' IROC-Z
I am going to store my 87' IROC-Z that I just bought. This is going to be my first time having to store a car. Any tips on storage of these cars? Park on a tarp or just any tips that you can help me out with. Prep for storage...etc... Thanks Guys!

are you storing it in a garage? heated, unheated? If no or its unheated then overinflate your tires. Make sure you take the battery out too and dont store it on concrete.Fill the gas tank and put stabil in.Make sure you change the oil before you take it out.
Heres a thread I found: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...winter+storage

i didn't read the links in the last post, but if its outside, get a car cover or something like that. Do not just throw a tarp over the top of it, especially if you have a good paintjob as rustling of the tarp in wind and such can scratch the paint. Also its preferable that you keep the car on cement or basically anything that isnt grass or mud or whatever holds moisture as that will eventually rusty floorboards

Thanks guys for such a fast reaction to my post. First, I would like to say that this is a great place that you guys have created. I will be visiting this site for the rest of my life....
I am going to be putting my car in one of those U-Store-it places with a 10X20 spot. Cement floor. UNHeated this year. Had to act fast, just got the car. I want to keep it cherry. But, I wanted a big enough storage so that I can work on it over the winter months... If there is anymore tips that you have please send them my way..... Thanks again guys.... Wisconsin Z Guy!

mouse traps and pest control in general. little circle of rat poison around the tires..... i have seen some pictures of mouse house interiors. cheking in on it from time to time would not be a bad idea.
Back the car into the stall.
Don't wash the car immediately before storage. If it's been washed, make sure there is ample time for all the water to dry from crevices, body seams, the insides of doors and other hidden areas.
Inflate the tires to maximum pressure, or even a few PSI more.
Get fresh oil in the sump, Sta-Bil in the fuel, and possibly some 2-cycle oil mixed in if you have TPI, and top off the rest of the fluids. Make sure the coolant can't freeze, and has adequate corrosion protection.
Place a disposable aluminum cake pan on the RF floor in case the heater core lets go while in storage.
Reportedly, dryer sheets emit an aroma that reples insects and rodents. If you believe that, scatter a few around the interior. Other than dryer sheets or moth *****, remove any unnecessary items from the vehicle, like tissues, napkins, food, other papers, tapes/CDs, textiles, etcetera. Insects and animals love this stuff for lining their nests.
Make sure the windows, hatch, T-Tops, and doors are fully closed. Seal the air intakes in the cowl area, since insects and even rodents can try to get in that way.
Fully charge or remove the battery.
It would be best if you could visit the car every 4-6 weeks, start it and warm it up, and possibly move it around the lot a bit is the weather permits.
Have a spare set of keys stored in a safe location.
