9th injector staying on?
I just changed my 305 tpi from a 85 to an 86 computer. Now finaly my car starts on the first try. But when it does, it wants to stall and bogs down when I give it gas. Almost like it is running way too rich. So I decided to unplug my 9th injector now The car starts slow on cold start, but runs great once started. So I can only assume that maybe my cold start switch is bad (on all the time). Any body have any ideas.
The cold start valve may be powered up when it shouldn't be. The control for the CSV is a combination temperature/timer that will allow voltage to the CSV for a given length of time at a given coolant temperature. It is a completely analog device, and may well have gone out of range. You can test the cold start control with a voltmeter connected to the injector (valve) while the engine starts. If the voltage remains present for more than a few seconds, the control is screwed. Once the injector has been fired, subsequent start attempts should not produce any voltage at the injector, at least until the "timer" half of the control has been allowed to cool between starts. That may take 5 minutes or more.
It seems you've isolated the problem to the cold start pretty effectively.
