TPI on Older Block

I have a very stong 350 that I would like to put into the wifes Formula with the TPI. Will a 70's 350 block pose any problems with the TPI set -up? I am planning on using an Edlebrock lower intake for now, then upgradeing the upper and runners later.

Thanks
Matthew

only problem I know of are the heads, depends on the intake manifold center bolt angles. 55'-86' are different than 87'- later. you can check Edelbrock web site for info. I think the Accel intake are made for both.

You'll also probably want some larger injectors and a chip programmed for the larger injectors (don't be a dud and just put larger injectors in there - doesn't work; do it right, do both).

The Edelbrock base is drilled for both head types I think.

There are a few things you may want to check with your 70s block. I have a 1989 IROC-Z with the stock TPI sitting on top of a 1959 283(+.040)block. I am running TBI 305 heads with the stock 350 TPI on top. It is converted to Speed Density. The 350 injectors are more than enough for my 283. It runs awesome, little light on the bottom end, but it goes well once you wind it up a little. Ran into a few problems... The driver's side dipstick cannot be used with the stock exhaust manifold because there is no way to get it between the manifold and head or otherwise. My L98 block had the oil pressure switch above the oil filter, my 283 block has no hole for it there, I had to move it to behind the intake on the rear of the block. I also had to get a spin on filter adapter because the 350 one does not fit the 283 block either. Other than that, it fits great and runs great. Needs a LOT of custom tuning though. I used a stock 350 oil pan from a 2pc main seal motor and got a new flexplate from an 84 L69 Z28.
