tpi runners
Hi, I was just wondering which aftermarket tpi runners flowed the best. I have seen the slp, edlebrocks, and the accel. I just wanted to know, I will still use the factory upper plenum, and have the factory base ported. I just need to know since the engine is around 366 or so cubes. Thought I'd ask. Thank you

Between the Edelbrocks and the SLP runners, everything I have read says the Edelbrocks flow more out of the box.
I'm not sure about the Accel ones.
If I were going to buy aftermarket runners (and I am soon
), I would spend a little extra and get Long Tube Runners (LTR) from Arizona Speed & Marine or TPIS. They are supposed to provide alot more torque & HP while retaining a stock appearance.
Just my 2 cents.
If you do a search, you will find many posts regarding runners and runner/intake combos.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck!

This will give you an idea of a few runners performance

There are some flow #s for the accel here.
http://stealthram.com/flowcomparison.html
Here are the dimensions of some of the runners im sure the larger diameter ones flow more unported.
Stock TPI-------- 7.250"------1.470" round(1.70 sq inches)
SLP -------------- 6.625"------1.600" round (2.01 sq inches)
Accel LTR------- 6.625"------1.615" round (2.05 sq inches)
TPiS-------------- 7.625"------1.660" round (2.168 sq inches)
From everything I have seen the TPIS and ASM runners flow the best unported but the SLPs are capable of being extensively ported.

Prowling around Dyno Don's shop I get to see the different intakes. Out of the box the Edelbrock units are the best.
I recently saw a set of Accels that will have a big time air leak. To much machining was done and the supplied gaskets would not seal up the gap. They will either be sent back or welded up. Quality control was absent.
Out of the box I'm not overly impressed with the SLP units. However if you are going to modify or work on the runners than that is where the SLP's shine and are the best. They have a lot of meat and lend them selves to be modified to your hearts content.

Dollar for Dollar, SLP's. They can be ported to all hell. Paired with k&ns, gutted boxes and runners, it makes your intake sound gooood.

I have a set of AS&M runners new in the box for sale if someone is interested $375 shipped. TPIS new is $495 and AS&M new is $395 plus shipping. If interested email me at vectra28@yahoo.com I waited over 6 months for these to be ready and I don't know why they take so long to make but have decided to go with the superram instead.

SLP sucks . Well stock they do . They are cisually smaller than the edlebrock ports. It's a shame though that the Edlebrock ones are so dam pricey . Check my site I got a pic of mine siamesed in 4" . They have LOTS of room for porting
I didn't want to spend hours grinding, one rule of thumb is keep the same manufacturer for the base and runners. Since I have the Edelbrock Vortec base- I went with the runners and just ground the casting marks- all pretty pricey- keep in mind to have a couple spare sets of lower gaskets- Edelbrocks are different from GM. I learned the hard way- tighten the lower runner bolts first.

I love my AS&M runners. They are already extrude honed from the factory. Thats why there is a 1-2 month wait for them.

I have SLP runners on an Edelbrock base. the SLP runner ports line up pretty good with the manifold base even though they are different mfr.
I'm not so sure it's worthwhile to get aftermarket runners if you're keeping the stock base. the stock base is pretty restrictive, and not a whole lot of meat for grinding.
The SLP runners don't have any advertising on them. I'm happy with them.
