how much torque???

ive been reading around for a little bit and i've been wondering about something ???

im currently looking into a 350 with 4bolt mains 10.1 compressions sportsman II head and an edlebrock intake with lord knows what carb and a t400 for like $1500 in feb or march. the guy said it was rated at like 450 hp or something like that.

my question is if i take the edlebrock off and swap it with ported slp tpi system how much torque would i have??

if i did this and also ported those head (assuming there not already) what figures would i be looking at ??

AND then taking it one step further what if i changed the rotating assembly and bored it over and changed the stroke so itd be a 383. what would we be talking then ?? at this point would the intake be pointless and need to be swapped out or could it still feed the motor ??

which would be the better bang for my buck and slp holley or first inj. system on the 383 ??

I dont know im just trying to get an idea for what the tpi is worth in the torque range and the heads too i really dont care if the motor has more then 400 horse. an offset rating is fine with me.

thanks

just for an idea..

..i got the camaro's performer mag next to me right now with an article about a 1989 Iroc. The car has 350 stroked to a 383, trickflow heads, 9.8:1 compression, cam and accel base manifold, slp runners and a stock upper intake (minus the tb...thats aftermarket)...and makes 390 hp @ 5200 rpm and 465 ft lbs of tq @ 4150

so use your imagination

yes, TPI can be made to "feed" a 350/383, but other intakes will make more power. If you don't have emissions(Illlinois...born there, don't know...) then go Stealthram and don't look back. If you do, FIRST. - As for swapping the rotating assembly for 383 components, then why buy the 350 in the first place?

- as far as torque, LoudmouthSS is about right, except the trickflows are probably a bit better head...

pretty much for the heads and intake.

i know its confusing but since i have two blocks and i wanted to buy those heads anyway. i might be able to get everything i want for almost free.

well thats the idea atleast. yea i was thinking stealthram but what kind of numbers can i get out. looking fro a street beast. o yeah we do have emissions but i might just license it differently.
thansk for the input

Since you have emissions, either plan on custom fabbing a vette style egr to the HSR, or go Superram/FIRST. - I just can't justify $1500 for a used set of sportsmans and a used intake... - I know where I can buy 3 different sets of sportsmans for under $500...I've never seen a $1000 block and intake...well, minus the KB in the 10.5 outlaw car...

well its an entire motor which ill probably rebuild and sell to somebody or give to my bro either way its going to get used. plus im getting a trans so the way i look at it nots that bad.

so id have to yank an egr valve from a vette and fab up a fitting or what? if so any pictures??

If you go solid roller(cheaper in an old-style block), you'll be adjusting the valves atleast once a month, and you'll have to live w/ a little valve train noise. - as for hyd roller, you'll have to buy the retro-fit lifters. They're not cheap, but the roller cam is worth it IMO. - AS for the other 350, I understand where you're at now. I've done that kinda stuff many times over. - Buy this sell that, build this trade it for that... - To fab up the egr, you'll have to have/get a vette/LT1 egr and mount it to the plenum, then run a line to your exhaust system...would take some work, and still wouldn't have the "CARB" id...

I stuck with the LTR setup. HP was not very high but it moves off the line. RWHP & TQ was 318 / 424. Assuming its FWHP and TQ your looking at around 398HP and 530TQ
