Vss wiring pigtail
Looking to find a Wiring pigtail for the vss sensor ( my wires got messed up and no connector)
Autozone only has the vss, not the connector do i need to go junkyard hopping?
Or can i just get a universal i think its a 2-3 pin connector?

You might find one in a salvage yard. You should also be able to get one through any parts store that carries the Standard Motor Products line. They offer a huge selection of OEM replacement connectors and pigtails, including almost the full line of Packard Electric connectors.

Is this for your 87? You'll have a hard time finding that, since its probably an odd connector. Your vss is mounted behind the speedo.
If you are installing a 90-92 style VSS, let me know. I have the connectors new, but haven't had a chance to add them to my site catalog. I can build one for you if you thats what you are looking for.

I was under the impression that the Firebirds had the vss sensor on the back of the speedo head, just like the Camaros (up until 89). What your saying would make sense though, as the older Camaros had cable driven speedo, but the Firebirds didn't.
Thanks for pointing that out.
That looks like a standard 2 tower weatherpack connector. I'm fairly certain it will look like the one in this pic...

I'm guessing you're right about the connector. I've never tried to match one up, but it's likely a plain, old two-wire WeatherPack.
There are few minor differences between Chevy and Pontiac models, but I have no idea why. The batteries (and EVAP canisters) were on opposite sides for a few years, the VSS/speedo thing, the fact that Chevys got a better intake tract design, some wiring/relay differences not icluding the headlights, the instrument dimmers on Pontiacs, and probably a fistful of others. And then there are the sheet metal and trim differences, etcetera.

the VSS connector that I have here is not the same as a regular 2 prong weatherpack connector.
The Reverse light switch is the standard type but the VSS is a different one.

Anyone know if they changed the VSS connectors in different years? My original VSS had that standard two-tower weatherpack connector as shown by Vader, but my new VSS has the connector like Zepher's.
So I have a harness with the two-tower connector and a VSS with the other style. Would you happen to have that connector in stock 92blue (if so, PM me)? If not, I can just jam the harness connector into the VSS and use some dielectric grease and electrical tape. It does fit, it just doesn't fit like it should, obviously.

Zepher, the VSS that you posted was not the only VSS connector that was used between 85-92. That one was used on the 90-92 models with a 4000 pulse VSS. It is used with the vehicle speed sensor in the pic...

I am fairly certain that the pic posted by Vader is the 2 tower weatherpack connector. I have seen it used for VSS on TBI truck harnesses before. GM does have the habit of reusing connectors throughout their different vehicles.
fire350TPI, the connector you will need will depend on the VSS you buy. The one in the pic I posted is a 4000 pulse, which goes with Zepher's picture. I believe your 87 used a 2000 pulse VSS (someone correct me if I'm wrong, perhaps it used a 4000 pulse and a buffer box to bring the signal down to 2000?). If thats the case, I think its going to be the weatherpack connector.
If someone does have a pic lying around of the connector in question, can they please post it for reference?
DuronClocker, I'll be sending you a PM in a second...
