305 with TFS Heads/Cam

Ill be pulling the 350 out of my Camaro this summer. I am just curious what the 305 in my T/A would be like if I put the Trick Flow Kenny D. heads on it, with say a 214/222 .488/.509 roller cam? The heads are pocket ported and bowl blended. Also a dyno tune of course.

I need to do sumthin to my 305 while I save up to stroke the 350, and put all forged internals in it.

if the TFS heads have 2.02/1.6 valves(should have) they won't clear the bore of a 305. Biggest valve you can run on a 305 is 1.94/1.5 As for the cam, probably a little big, but personally, I'd run it.

Actually, I think they will clear the bore - but it would make approximately 20% of the valve useless because the wall would be right next to it. Air flows around the complete surface of the valve, and you'd be quickly eliminating that on 1 side.....

... the bottom line is don't put them on a 305. Heck I might even be wrong, they may not even fit in the bore (but I'm 98% sure they will).

damnit!

Now I need another way to get my 305 into the low 13's. Not using nitrous. My goal is and has been a TPI 383 with a centrifugal supercharger. I cant put the 350 I have in my T/A cuz it will be having the work done to it, and I dont have enough for the SC yet either. I planned on doing it in phases, heads/cam the 305, add the SC, then change to the 383.

well, back to the drawing board.......

Trickflow makes a head for the 305. It has around 180cc ports and flows quite well. These will do the job for you and the price is right.

2.02 wont clear unless you run a VERY small lift cam

Then I might just do the supercharger first with the stock LB9. Its got enough life in it to last until the 383 is done.

The old twisted wedge design rotated th center line fo the intake toward the center of the bore. This let the 2.02 int. clear the cyl. bore the, the 1.60 exh. still had an clearence problem but at a vary high lift. That's the good news; the bad news is I'm fairly sure they've been disconutined. This didn't help as much sa on a 4" bore blk. Because of shrowding of valve at both the int. and exh. The cyl wall is so close to the valve that restricts air flow.
One other possible is to get a set with 1.94 and 1.50 valves. I know AFR used to offer them on 180cc disc.? and 190cc.
