L98 Iron Head (083) is 64cc right??
Just wanna verify something here, the Iron L98 heads are 64cc right? I mean, I know I cant guarantee exactly 64cc because of factory tolerances but thats what they're supposed to be right? I'm replacing the head gaskets on my 89 IROC-Z w/ L98 and I had a local machine shop replace the valve seals since the heads are off the car. Well the guy at the machine shop said these heads are 76cc's. He didnt measure them or anything he just looked at them and said that. I told him I thought they were 64cc so he pulled up some computer program they had and typed in the casting number on the heads (ending with 083) and the program kept saying either 76cc or 58cc. So now I dunno what to think. I've read everywhere that these were 64cc heads, but this guy at the machine shop undoubtably has more experience with heads than I do and his computer backed him up. Can anyone here verify this for sure? 083 head cc volume? Its really gonna matter when chosing the bore and compressed thickness of the head gaskets. Thanks for the help!!!!
