HELP TPI BASE

HI, I have a set of SLP runners and have cut almost 2 pounds out of them and have really opend them up, I will soon polish them, I am also going to do all the plenum mods that have been suggested. I am intending on really opening up my stock base also, or buy an accel big mouth base if I cant open up the stock one to my satisfacton. My question is what do you think with the mods I have listed, do you think it will let the engine pull to RPM wise. And does anyone have this combo and are you happy with it, its mostly a street engine and I am hoping that with those mods I will pull to at least 55/5700. Thanks for your help.

My 355 engine with Trick Flow 23* heads and LT4 HOT cam pulls to 6200 rpm with home-ported SLP runners and Edelbrock manifold base. I wouldn't even bother porting out the stock base as I don't think it has enough meat to open up as far as the aftermarket bases. Attached are my dyno run from last year and a picture of my ported SLP runner. Here is a webpage showing my ported base:

At this point with the mods I have, the TPI design is limiting the amount of airflow the engine can breathe (and therefore, power). I'll be installing a HSR manifold next month and hope to pick up 25-35 rwhp. I've put all of my dyno runs together in a webpage here:

Thanks GREG , I have not thought about the edelbrock base, what number base is that, that looks like a good product and I can port from there, man thats great that it pulls to 6200, did you do any plenum mods or change your throttle body?. I would love to have a HSR but I have stinking emissions that I have to pass and the HSR dosent provide for that, I thought about setting a remote EGR like from a LT-1 set up from vette or something later, and I may just say screw it and do it, I know I can tune it to pass but for now im just trying to get something together for now. Thanks for your help, and if you wouldnt mind please shoot me the intake number....

I have the 3860 base, which is for '87+ heads with the angled center intake bolts. I ported out the plenum to match the runners, opened up the TB holes, and have a 58mm TB. My poor Dremel tool is just about worn out.

Thanks GREG, I have a set of AFRs centerbolt heads so that will work for me, but im just going with the 52mm throttle body mod. I will go to the parts wanted section and post there, thanks so much for your help. I have a dremel also, but have better luck with a drill and some 6in bits for alum. that so much faster and just use the dremel for the fine work.

My edlebrock base and runners ( ported and siamesed ni 4") with a ZZ4 cam and STOCK heads ( 3 anlge valve job screw in studs and roller tiped magnum rockers) . It peaked out at 4900 rpm . The stock heads really hold you back. But the drop off wasn't as harssh as stock . Check my cardomain site to see the ported runner pics

I think I found a thread somewhere here about the stock intake ported is good as an unported aftermarket base. The aftermarket base flows around 250 cfm unported. With some calipers and a big mouth gasket it can be ported if your up for a project. If you think the runners and heads will breathe more than that then get the aftermarket intake.

Yes, I'm quite happy with my TPI system. I will be using it on my next build up as I see no reason to change it. Right now I think my cam is the limiting factor. My numbers are in my signature along with the parts. My Edelbrock manifold is extrude honed and that may acccount for the better horsepower numbers. My SLP runners are also siamesed. My cam is only 212 on the intake at .050 which is smaller than the 218 hot cam used above. I have the transmission setup to shift at 6000 rpm in first and 5700 in 2nd.
